Babies

We recommend starting early.

For infants the learning process starts from birth, after spending 9 months immersed in a watery environment they are ready to learn. The best way to get your child started is to make bath time a fun and enjoyable activity for your child. We recommend that parents provide cuddling, playing and communicating opportunities as part of their infants daily bath routine. These early learning experiences in the bath are important as they are in fact the child's first introduction to swimming.

At about 9 months-1 year of age, babies often become quite mobile on land, this is when they are ready to start formal swimming lessons as they are then able to start to initiate movement in the water. We can teach basic water safety, breath control, and an understanding and appreciation of the water.

By the age of 2 they will start to swim using primitive actions to propel them through the water, and can learn basic safety skills like swimming to the side of the pool and climbing out themselves.

A parent or guardian of the child is required to participate in their childs lessons until they are emotionally ready to learn without them, usually around 30 months old.
